Keeping our cool

Welcome to the new 'Dog Blog' follow our blog for weekly updates and news. Vote for our 'dog of the month' and read our 'happy endings' stories when a dog finds a loving home.

In sad times when your best friend passes over the 'rainbow bridge' send us your memorials and a photo and we will dedicate a blog to him or her.

Well summer is upon us and the APSA dogs look for all kinds of ways to keep cool, a roll in the dust, digging a nice cool hole or even taking a dip in the water bowl!

Remember when temperatures are high outside, they are even higher inside a car, NEVER leave your dog in a hot car, even with the window cracked open slightly, dogs can die of heat exhaustion much quicker than humans. Read here how a vet in the US sat in a hot car to see what it felt like.

Got to sign off, it's 'walkies' time! Speaking of which, don't forget if you are not able to adopt a dog, we always need volunteers to help walk our 'residents' gets you fit and active and you will make a friend for life.

And finally, here is our dog quote of the week - “The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs.” Charles de Gaulle
